Former Georgia congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene sharply criticized the Make America Great Again movement in a recent interview, saying the slogan and its promises “was all a lie” and arguing that its benefits have flowed to wealthy political contributors rather than everyday supporters.

Speaking with YouTube host Kim Iversen on January 28, Greene said, “MAGA is, I think, people are realizing, it was all a lie. It was a big lie for the people.” She added that the Trump administration is focused on serving what she called “big, big donors,” not the grassroots voters who helped propel it.
Greene said, “What MAGA is really serving in this administration, who they’re serving, is their big donors.” According to Greene, those donors are the ones who receive government favors: “They get the government contracts, they get the pardons, or somebody they love or one of their friends gets a pardon.”
Greene, once a prominent Trump supporter in Congress, has increasingly distanced herself from Donald Trump and parts of the conservative movement, including criticizing Fox News coverage and internal Republican dynamics. In addition to her comments about the MAGA movement’s priorities, Greene rejected the notion that Trump’s staff influences decisions, saying, “There may be a point where people have to come to grips with this is Donald Trump.”
Her remarks underscore a public split between Greene and Trump allies, reflecting internal tensions about the direction and beneficiaries of contemporary conservative politics.
