Mary Cosby is speaking out for the first time following the death of her son, Robert Cosby Jr., and her words are heavy with faith and heartbreak.
Days after Salt Lake City police confirmed that officers responded to an overdose call that later became a death investigation, the “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star shared a public statement mourning her 23-year-old son.
“Our beloved son Robert Jr. has been called home to the Lord. Though our hearts ache, we take comfort in God’s promise and in knowing he is finally at peace. We are grateful for your prayers and trust in the Lord to carry us through this time of sorrow.”

The message, signed simply “Mary Cosby,” reflects the same spiritual foundation viewers have seen throughout her time on television. Still, the grief is unmistakable.
Robert Cosby Jr. had openly discussed his struggles with substance use on the Bravo series. During a deeply personal season five conversation, he told his mother he began using drugs at 16, taking Xanax, Molly, acid, and cocaine, and admitted it had spiraled out of control. Shortly after that exchange aired, he entered treatment.
Mary Cosby has shared both vulnerable and complicated moments with her son on screen, from his addiction battle to her disappointment over his secret marriage and legal issues. Through it all, their bond remained visible.
Now, she is leaning on faith as she faces an unimaginable loss, asking supporters for prayers while honoring her son’s memory.
