McDonald’s is currently in the process of developing a new spinoff restaurant named CosMc’s.

CEO Chris Kempczinski recently revealed that the upcoming small-format concept restaurant will retain all the core elements of McDonald’s while showcasing its distinct personality. CosMc is a character from McDonald’s fictional world known as McDonaldland. The character is depicted as a yellow-colored, part alien, and part robot being. Introduced in the second phase of McDonaldland in 1987, CosMc possesses six arms and an intriguing backstory.

“CosMc’s is a small-format concept with all the DNA of McDonald’s, but its own unique personality,” Kempczinski said.

According to a McDonald’s spokesperson, the fast food giant plans to introduce the new concept in a select few locations  starting in the early months of next year.

Although Kempczinski didn’t provide further details about the company’s plans, McDonald’s is expected to share more information regarding its development during its investor day in December. Kempczinski also mentioned that the company is attracting a greater number of higher-income customers who are opting for fast-food options instead of sit-down restaurants.

“There is certainly concern with the US consumer that shows up in their sentiment. But our business and our value positioning in the market has put us into a good position to be able to weather that and continue to drive the share gains that you’re seeing,” Kempczinski said.
