McDonald's Employee Shot in Neck Over Cold Fries Has Died

Matthew Webb

According to police, the Brooklyn McDonald’s employee who was shot in the neck after a dispute over cold fries has passed away.

The NYPD says Matthew Webb, 23, has “succumbed to his injuries” after being shot Monday outside the fast-food restaurant where he worked in Bedford-Stuyvesant.
On Friday, police announced that the attack “has been deemed a homicide” and that “the investigation remains ongoing.”
In response to his mother receiving cold fries, 20-year-old Michael Morgan shot Webb and has already been charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a loaded firearm.
Before Webb’s death was confirmed, prosecutors told a court hearing Thursday that he would face upgraded homicide charges.
On Monday, while Webb was working at the restaurant on Fulton Street, Lisa Fulmore, Morgan’s mother, complained to staff members that her fries were lukewarm and requested to speak to a manager.
Fulmore was FaceTiming with Morgan when the workers began laughing at her, and Morgan got into a fight with Webb outside the restaurant.
Prosecutors claim that after punching Webb in the face, Morgan drew a gun and shot him in the neck as soon as he stood up.
Fulmore later told police that her son said, “he gotta do what he gotta do.”

Camellia Dunlap, the suspect’s girlfriend, is also accused of possessing the firearm after reportedly giving Morgan the gun. After the prosecution claimed she admitted to having the gun, she was arraigned later on Wednesday and was being held on $50,000 cash bail.

Following a confession during questioning over the McDonald’s shooting, Morgan was also charged with murder in a separate crime.

In October 2021, he reportedly murdered Kevin Holloman.
