Megan Thee Stallion is not letting Instagram call her red carpet look fake. After the platform put an “AI content” label on her photos from the 2026 CFDA Fashion Awards, Megan went into her own comments to set the record straight.

“AI couldn’t generate this lol @instagram fix that please,” she wrote under the carousel.
The photos show Megan on the CFDA carpet Monday night, November 2, at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. She wore a custom burgundy gown by designer Kim Shui, built around a sheer bodice and a heavily beaded choker collar. Raised appliqué cups shaped the bust, a narrow panel of beaded lattice and braided knots ran down the center of her stomach, and wide cutouts left her waist and sides out. The skirt sat low on her hips and finished in a long train.
Megan posted the look with a simple thank you to Kim Shui and the CFDA. On the carpet, she told WWD the designer is “my girl, my queen” and said she always wears her pieces, adding that she was grateful Shui asked her to come along. The night also marked a reunion with her longtime stylist Isiah Ahmad.
It is not clear what triggered the label. Meta’s AI tags are based on signals it detects in an image, including data left behind by some photo editing tools, so real photos can end up flagged. Megan’s carousel shows a woman in a gown standing in front of a step and repeat, which made the label easy to clown.
The moment lines up with her own music too. On “Tina Tuesday Freestyle,” the September teaser for her upcoming Act III album, Megan rapped that she looks too good for AI to generate. Instagram just handed her the receipt.
AI has been personal for Megan before. In 2024, an explicit deepfake video using her likeness spread online, and she called it fake and warned the people sharing it that she was done playing with them. This time it is a label instead of a fake video, and she is laughing it off.
