The Moneybagg Yo success story is now at the center of a massive legal battle over who really helped build the brand before the fame, chart-topping albums, and Roc Nation ties.
The Memphis rapper, born Demario DeWayne White Jr., is being sued by his former personal and business manager, Sherry Jackson-Floyd, who claims she played a major role in turning him from an emerging local artist into a multi-million-dollar brand. The lawsuit was originally filed in 2019 and later amended in 2022, naming Moneybagg Yo, Bread Gang Enterprises, and Roc Nation Management as defendants.
According to the amended complaint, Jackson-Floyd says she began advising Moneybagg Yo around late 2015 or early 2016 after meeting him while working at Bank of America. She alleges their business relationship became official after a 2016 concert shooting in West Point, Mississippi, when she agreed to serve as his personal and business manager under “handshake agreements.”
Jackson-Floyd claims those alleged agreements promised her a share of Moneybagg Yo’s earnings, reimbursements, salary, and perks through Bread Gang Enterprises. The complaint alleges she was promised $5,000 per week, a G-Wagon, and one-third of his revenue.
Her claims go beyond management duties. Jackson-Floyd alleges she used her own money, credit, and business experience to help fund and shape the Moneybagg Yo brand. The complaint says she helped with finances, logistics, image rebuilding, and brand development as his career grew. She also alleges she put $125,000 down and used her credit to finance a Rolls Royce that was used to promote his image.
Her attorney, Ralph Gibson, described the matter as a business dispute, saying, “It’s a commercial contract case.” He also claimed Roc Nation knew about Jackson-Floyd’s alleged agreement before moving forward with its own management relationship, saying, “It’s intentional interference with contract on the part of Roc Nation because they knew this contract existed.”
Gibson also argued Jackson-Floyd was key to Moneybagg Yo’s rise, saying, “Without her, he could not have gotten as big as he got.”
Moneybagg Yo’s career has since grown far beyond Memphis. In 2021, his fourth studio album, “A Gangsta’s Pain,” topped the Billboard 200, while “Wockesha” became one of his signature hits. He later released “Speak Now” in 2024 and has remained closely tied to Memphis, including a $20,000 donation to Memphis-Shelby County Schools in January 2026.
Jackson-Floyd is seeking at least $100 million in compensatory damages, punitive damages from Roc Nation, a full accounting of Moneybagg Yo’s earnings, and a constructive trust granting her one-third of revenues dating back to January 1, 2017.
The case remains ongoing. The allegations have not been proven in court, and the defendants have not been found liable.
