Morris Chestnut addressed claims from a man named Dante, who says the actor is his father and abandoned him, during an interview on Power 105’s The Breakfast Club on March 1, 2016.
Earlier in the year, Dante posted on Facebook that Chestnut left his family as the actor became famous after Boyz n the Hood. Chestnut said the full story had not been told. He said he was 17 when he had a consensual friendship with Dante’s mother, and that when she told him she was pregnant, he was 18 and decided to step up and do the right thing. He described an on and off relationship, and said that after the movie came out he was served with a paternity suit.
According to Chestnut, the paternity test showed he was not the father. He said Dante was about 3 years old when the results came in, and that he told Dante himself when Dante was 9.
Chestnut said he does not fault Dante and believes he was given inaccurate information growing up. He said he is disappointed by the situation, calling it “a delicate situation for everyone involved.” The reports did not include a response from Dante or his mother.
