If you haven’t heard by now, there’s a huge problem with Cam Newton and his “dabbing.” Ever since the QB for the undefeated Panthers began doing the popular dance after touchdowns, it’s become an act of terror for some. Despite the fact that he isn’t the first professional athlete to dab during a game, classless, arrogant, and a “thug” have all been words used to describe Cam based on his moves. Now a Tennessee woman has written a letter to describe the kind of emotional damage that she says Cam’s dancing had on her 9-year-old daughter.

Rosemary Plorin, a Titans fan, says she took her daughter to her very first NFL game on Sunday. Plorin says that her daughter was having the time of her life until she witnessed Cam’s “taunting” after his arm-stretched touchdown in the 4th quarter. “We had a close up view of you fourth quarter. The chest puffs. The pelvic thrusts. The arrogant struts and the ‘in your face’ taunting of both the Titans’ players and fans. We saw it all.” Plorin wrote.

Plorin continued to note that Cam’s behavior influenced taunting in the crowd, because of his role model status. “My daughter sensed the change immediately – and started asking questions. Won’t he get in trouble for doing that? Is he trying to make people mad? Do you think he knows he looks like a spoiled brat?” She continued, “I could tell she was still thinking about it as we boarded a shuttle back to our car. “I guess he doesn’t have kids or a Mom at home watching the game.”

“I don’t know about your family life Mr. Newton, but I think I’m safe in saying thousands of kids watch you every week. You have amazing talent and an incredible platform to be a role model for them. Unfortunately, what you modeled for them today was egotism, arrogance and poor sportsmanship.” Plorin concluded.
