But have you ever wondered how the catchphrase that took the food world by storm actually came to be? The man himself recently sat down on The Baller Alert Show with Ferrari Simmons and BT to break down the science behind the soul food phenomenon. When you are dealing with meat so succulent it defies the laws of physics, “tender” just isn’t a strong enough word.
It all started with a simple craving and a bit of kitchen serendipity. During the interview, Ferrari Simmons asked the question everyone wanted to know, “What made you pull the bone out and just drop it like that?”
As it turns out, the movement was not a planned marketing ploy, it was a revelation that started with a plate of oxtails. Mr. Tendernism explained, “Hey, man, just what happened, man. See, I believe in that ‘tendernism.’ It started with oxtail. I just rowed the oxtail, it peeled like an orange. I say, ‘That ain’t tender, that’s tendernism.'”
While the oxtails sparked the idea, it was a beef bone that sealed the deal. Mr. Tendernism continued, “So one day, you know, I wanted that beef bone bad, man. I had forgot my piece of bread. So I went to just turn the bone over so I could put some little sauce on it. The bone just slid — the meat slid right off the bone. I tried to stick it back up in there, it wouldn’t go. I said, ‘Oh, that’s tendernism for real.’ And that was what happened. Yes, somebody had caught me, and it went out.”
That accidental slide became the gold standard for meat lovers everywhere. Since that moment went out to the masses, the brand has become synonymous with quality, patience, and a level of slow-cooked perfection that you cannot just find anywhere.
When the meat refuses to stay on the bone, you know you are not just eating a meal, you are experiencing tendernism for real.
