Tyler Boebert, the 21-year-old son of U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert, is facing five felony charges in Colorado after authorities arrested him in a case involving allegations of sexual exploitation of a child.
Prosecutors filed case 2026CR234 in Garfield County on August 6, 2026. The case includes three counts of sexual exploitation of a child and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Court records list January 1, 2024, as the beginning date tied to the alleged offenses.
The records provide more detail about the specific charges Tyler Boebert is facing. Per the court filings, one count alleges sexual exploitation of a child involving inducing or enticing and is classified as a Class 3 felony. A second count involving possession with intent is also listed as a Class 3 felony.
A third sexual exploitation count involving video is classified as a Class 4 felony. The remaining two counts accuse Boebert of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, with each listed as a Class 4 felony.
According to a Garfield County Sheriff’s Office statement, deputies arrested Tyler Boebert on August 9. The agency identified him as a New Castle resident and said the arrest followed an investigation by the sheriff’s office and a felony review by the 9th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
The sheriff’s office confirmed that the arrest warrant included allegations under Colorado’s sexual exploitation of a child statute along with additional charges. Authorities also said the investigation remains active and that no further details would be released at this stage.
The court timeline moved quickly in the days before the arrest. An affidavit was filed on August 6 and a warrant was issued on August 7. His bond was set at $10,000.
Court records show the warrant was canceled after Boebert’s arrest on August 9. He posted a surety bond and was released from custody that same day.
The criminal charges remain allegations, and Boebert has not been convicted in the new Garfield County case.
According to court calendar information, Tyler Boebert is scheduled to appear in Garfield County court on August 19, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. The case is assigned to Judge Elise Victoria Myer.
Lauren Boebert addressed the allegations against her son in a statement provided to Colorado Politics.
“I love my son. We take these allegations very seriously and pray for everyone affected during this challenging time.”
The new case comes as Tyler Boebert is also dealing with separate criminal matters in Colorado. He is scheduled for sentencing in Weld County on September 4 in connection with a 2025 child abuse case. Court records reviewed by the outlet show he pleaded guilty to one count involving negligence without injury, while another count was dismissed.
That case is separate from the new Garfield County prosecution.
Tyler also has a September 10 court date connected to a 2024 Garfield County case. Colorado Politics previously reported that he was arrested in February 2024 in connection with a “string of vehicle trespasses and property thefts.”
Authorities accused Tyler and several others of breaking into vehicles and stealing financial cards, gift cards, and cash. Tyler later pleaded guilty to attempted identity theft in that case. A judge issued a deferred sentence and ordered him to complete 80 hours of community service while prohibiting him from using controlled substances. Courthouse News reported that the case involved vehicle break-ins around Rifle and allegations that stolen financial cards were later used to make purchases.
The newly filed case is the most serious set of allegations Tyler Boebert currently faces. Court records establish five felony counts, an August 9 arrest, a $10,000 bond, and an August 19 court appearance, while investigators have not publicly released the underlying affidavit detailing the evidence behind the charges.
