A Florida man is facing several charges after the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office said he assaulted a deputy and bit a police dog’s ear during an arrest in the nude.

According to the New York Post, 38 year old Donald was arrested on a Saturday in early January 2020. Records cited in the report list charges of simple battery, two counts of resisting an officer, and one count of aggravated battery on a service animal.

The sheriff’s office said deputies were called to a home in High Springs over a report that a man was using methamphetamine. A second caller in the area then reported a strange man in his yard with a flashlight. Deputies said they found Donald naked and covered in mud, lying in shallow water, and described his behavior as manic, saying he paced and made bird noises.

Per the police report, Donald ran under a mobile home and punched a deputy who tried to detain him. Deputies said several Taser attempts did not work, so they waited for a K9 unit. When K9 Casper was commanded to apprehend him, police said Donald grabbed the dog by the head and bit his ear. Casper eventually broke free and deputies were able to detain Donald.

He was taken to the hospital and then to the county jail, where he was held on a $37,000 bond. The charges are allegations and Donald has not been convicted. Baller Alert is glad to hear Casper made it through.
