Flowers Foods has issued a Hawaiian bread recall for Nature’s Own loaves sold in Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas after milk was left off the ingredient label.
The Georgia based company announced the recall on October 2, and the FDA posted the notice on October 5. It covers two products: the Nature’s Own Hawaiian Bread 20 oz. loaf and the Nature’s Own Hawaiian Bread two pack, which comes in at 40 oz.
The bread does contain milk. The packaging just never said so. Flowers Foods said it caught the problem during a review of its production records, which showed certain packages went out without milk listed as an ingredient.
For most people, that changes nothing about the bread. For anyone with a milk allergy or a severe sensitivity to milk, it is a real risk. Eating a product with undeclared milk can trigger an allergic reaction that, in serious cases, can be life threatening. That is why the company is asking anyone in those groups not to eat it.
So far, no illnesses or other incidents tied to the Hawaiian bread recall have been reported.
To check whether your loaf is affected, look at the UPC and the date on the bag. The 20 oz. Hawaiian Bread carries UPC 0 72250 91662 2, with “Best if used by” dates running from October 8, 2026 through October 18, 2026. The two pack carries UPC 0 72250 00683 5. The recall notice did not list product codes or “Best if used by” dates for the two pack, so if you have one with that UPC, treat it as part of the recall.
Anyone who bought the recalled bread can throw it away or bring it back to the store where they bought it for a full refund.
Nature’s Own is one of the biggest names in the bread aisle, and Flowers Foods also owns Dave’s Killer Bread, Wonder, Canyon Bakehouse, Simple Mills and Tastykake. This Hawaiian bread recall only applies to the two Nature’s Own Hawaiian Bread products listed above, and only to those sold in the five states named in the notice.
