I wasn’t alive to experience Martin Luther King or Malcolm X but I was alive to witness (and be taught) the greatness that was Nelson Mandela, South Africa’s first black president, Nobel Peace winner and activist.
Mandela’s death was confirmed by current S. African president, Jacob Zuma, today. Mandela had been in ICU for nearly a month, suffering from a lung infection, an illness dating back to his days in jail fighting against inequality (the apartheid regime).
Rest In Peace Mr. Mandela.
“Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom” starring Idris Elba as Nelson Mandela debuted in select week and is set to release through out the next few weeks. Make sure you go see it. If you didn’t know of his life, it’s definitely not too late to learn.
