Netflix cancels RU Paul

Ru Paul Charles’ new Netflix series AJ and the Queen has been canceled after just one season.

On Friday, the creator and star of the series, Charles, confirmed the news that the series would be coming to an end.  “End of the road for AJ and The Queen,” RuPaul wrote. “Netflix has decided to not extend our trip across America. Thank you for all the love & support. We’re so very proud of the work.”

The show detailed the life of an outgoing drag queen who travels across the country with her recently orphaned sidekick AJ. The two embark on an adventure visiting drag clubs around the nation while striving to accomplish their dreams. Deadline reports the series was created by Charles and 2 Broke Girls co-creator and former Sex and the City showrunner, Michael Patrick King.

The series starred Josh Segarra, Michael-Leon Wooley, Katerina Tannenbaum, and Tia Carrere, and it was executive produced by Charles and King. The project was produced by King’s MPK Productions in association with Warner Bro., according to Deadline.
