New Music Friday is bringing Atlanta to the front of the playlist this week, and fans in the South will not be disappointed.
Gunna is making his next move with “Pop It,” the first single from his upcoming seventh studio album, “Splurge.” The record also introduces SB THE LABEL, his new imprint in partnership with Atlantic Music Group. Gunna is serving as CEO, with Casper Bluff, Nechie and Dracc among the artists joining the roster. So this release is doing double duty: launching an album campaign and putting his latest business venture in motion.
The Spike Jordan-directed video makes the rollout even bigger. Professional tennis star Coco Gauff appears in scenes on a tennis court, while other shots take viewers aboard helicopters flying over California. Gunna’s new signees also make appearances, turning the visual into a showcase for the team he is building. As for “Splurge,” Gunna has not confirmed a release date. However, he has been clear about elevating his sound.
Meanwhile, Lil Baby keeps things moving with “Coast 2 Coast,” featuring Bally Baby and Fatt Smaxk. Released October 7, the collaboration arrives with a music video that trades the usual luxury-car convoy for a school bus transformed into a party bus. The three rappers ride through Atlanta, bringing the celebration directly into the city that helped shape Baby’s career. The record follows “Dead Fresh,” his viral Pharrell Williams-produced single, as anticipation continues around his next album. Whether “Coast 2 Coast” makes that project remains unconfirmed, but the song keeps Baby’s motion going while giving two collaborators room to shine.
Then Young Nudy brings his own energy with “Who Dat I,” giving fans another dose of the East Atlanta rapper’s offbeat flows and laid-back menace. Nudy has spent years developing a sound that does not need much introduction. From “Nudy Land” and “Sli’merre” to “DR. EV4L” and “Paradise,” his catalog has consistently favored unusual production choices and unpredictable delivery.
