This week’s New Music Friday proves that reinvention is the real theme, with Lizzo, Bryson Tiller, and Shaboozey each stepping into a new chapter. From a bold pop comeback to late-night R&B and country-rap flair, this week’s lineup brings range, personality, and plenty of conversation.
Lizzo leads the week with her new album, “B*TCH,” a 12-track project released June 5. The album arrives at a pivotal time for the Grammy-winning performer, following a public stretch marked by legal controversy, shifting momentum, and questions about her next musical direction. Early reviews note that the project finds Lizzo moving through pop, soul, R&B, rock, and dance influences while addressing confidence, backlash, and self-reflection. Tracks listed ahead of the release included “A Toast,” “Happy 2 Be,” “Don’t Make Me Love U,” “B*tch,” “She Stole My Man,” and “Whose Hair Is This.”
Bryson Tiller holds down the R&B side with “Drop The Lo,” a new single released through Trapsoul/RCA Records. The title plays off “drop the location,” and the track leans into the seductive, melodic lane that made Tiller a defining voice in modern trap-soul. According to release details, the song was written by Tiller, Reezy On Da Beat, and Andrew Glover, with production from Reezy On Da Beat. It follows his recent single “IT’S OK” and teases the next chapter of music from the Louisville singer.
Shaboozey keeps his genre-blending streak alive with “Cowgirl,” arriving after the massive success that helped push him deeper into country and pop spaces. The single comes with a Western-themed video starring Summer House personality Ciara Miller, who plays Cherie Lee in a saloon-set visual co-directed by Shaboozey and Logan Meis. The release is also tied to his upcoming Western-inspired album, “The Outlaw Cherie Lee & Other Western Tales,” continuing the romance, revenge, and outlaw themes that have become part of his expanding world.
