Lawrence Jr., the son of NFL Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor, is out of jail. TMZ reported on August 29 that he was released on a $50,000 bond posted by his mother after his July arrest in Georgia.
According to TMZ, Lawrence Jr. was arrested on July 7 and faces three felony counts: statutory rape, aggravated child molestation and statutory aggravated sodomy. Per the warrant, as reported, two underage girls made accusations against him. One girl under 16 made one allegation, and a second girl alleged that incidents happened more than once the year before.
These are accusations and nothing has been proven in court. He has not been convicted of anything. TMZ reported that he stays free until his next court date, which had not been scheduled yet. His lawyer told TMZ, “Mr. Taylor has some serious challenges that lay ahead of him.”
The case comes a few years after his father was arrested in 2010 in a separate matter. According to reports at the time, the elder Taylor later pleaded guilty to lesser charges, received probation and was required to register as a sex offender.
We will keep you posted as the case moves forward.
