Nicci Gilbert, best known as one-third of ’90s R&B group Brownstone, is backtracking on past comments about Tory Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion—and she’s doing it publicly. During a candid interview on BHighTV, Gilbert offered a heartfelt apology to Lanez, admitting she spoke out too soon and without all the facts.
The apology comes shortly after reports that Lanez was brutally stabbed 14 times in prison. He remains in recovery after suffering collapsed lungs and multiple injuries. The violent attack has reignited debate over his controversial conviction for the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion.

“I was wrong,” Gilbert confessed. “I jumped on the bandwagon without fully understanding the case.” She added that personal emotions and unresolved issues influenced her opinion and stressed that everyone deserves due process. If there was suppressed evidence or any doubt, Gilbert said Lanez deserves a retrial.
But Megan Thee Stallion isn’t staying quiet. In fact, just last week, she doubled down on her testimony by releasing a full public presentation, complete with documentation, timelines, and court testimony to back her side of the story. She’s been clear: she’s standing firm on what happened and is done entertaining the doubts and online attacks.
“I believe the facts should speak for themselves,” Megan said during the release. And with everything laid out, she’s hoping to put lingering questions to rest once and for all.
So while Gilbert is now calling for a retrial and reassessing her stance, Megan is taking control of the narrative—again. The case may be settled in court, but in public opinion, the conversation is far from over.
