The Nick Cannon comments about Trump are making noise for a reason, because Nick Cannon didn’t just tiptoe into politics, he walked straight in and started talking reckless with intention. During a sit-down with Amber Rose on his Big Drive platform, Cannon said he “f**ks with Trump” while also calling Democrats the “party of the KKK.”

That combo right there? Yeah, that’s what got everybody locked in.

Cannon wasn’t framing himself as Republican, and he didn’t suddenly start campaigning for Donald Trump either. Instead, he positioned himself as somebody who doesn’t trust either side, and he made that clear throughout the conversation. He leaned into the idea that both major parties have played roles in systems that haven’t fully served Black Americans, so in his mind, picking a side blindly doesn’t make sense.

But while that broader point has been said before, it was how he said it that hit different.

When Cannon called Democrats the “party of the KKK,” he was referencing a real, documented period in American history where Southern Democrats were tied to white supremacist power structures during Reconstruction. That part is factual. However, what often gets left out, and what Cannon didn’t fully unpack in that moment, is the political realignment that took place decades later.

Because by the time the 1960s rolled around, everything shifted.

Civil rights legislation, including the Civil Rights Act, forced a break in political identities, and many segregationist Southern Democrats eventually moved toward the Republican Party. So while Cannon’s statement pulls from truth, it skips the part of the story that explains how those identities evolved into what we see today.

Still, Cannon wasn’t trying to deliver a classroom lecture.

He was speaking from a perspective that questions the entire system, and he backed that up by invoking W.E.B. Du Bois. Cannon referenced Du Bois’ belief that the two-party system operates like one entity with different labels, which is why he refuses to pledge allegiance to either side.

That framing matters, because it shows Cannon isn’t trying to switch teams. He’s trying to step outside the game completely.

Even with that context, though, the Trump comment is what really stuck with people.

Because this isn’t the same energy he had years ago. Back in 2015, Cannon publicly criticized Trump over comments about Heidi Klum, calling the behavior out directly. Fast forward to now, and while he’s not endorsing him politically, he’s openly saying he respects or connects with him on some level.

That shift didn’t go unnoticed.

It also didn’t happen in a vacuum. Amber Rose, who sat across from Cannon during the conversation, has been vocal about her own political changes, including public support for Trump in recent years. So this wasn’t just a random debate. It was two public figures openly rethinking political alignment in real time, and doing it without filtering every word for approval.

That’s why the clip traveled the way it did.

Because it felt like a real conversation, not a scripted moment. And whether people agree with Cannon or not, the reaction shows how sensitive and layered these conversations still are, especially when they touch history, identity, and power all at once.

At the center of it all, Cannon is making one thing clear. He’s not signing up for a party, he’s not repeating talking points, and he’s not worried about how clean it sounds. He’s choosing to question everything out loud, even if that means stepping into controversy to do it.

And clearly, that’s exactly what he did.

I guess I did not realize how uneducated and how shallow this guy actually is. What a ridiculous thing to say, without doing a small amount of research. Unimpressed about his uninformed ass. Dude, go hide somewhere.!!!
tRumpf is a COMPLETE RACIST, mysoginist, arrogant asshole, and if this guy supports him, he should get in line to lick his boots, as the other misinformed, so called Black folks, who still think like house slaves.
