The corner that shaped the life of Nipsey Hussle is about to carry his name for good. On Saturday, February 28, at 10 a.m., Crenshaw and Slauson will officially be unveiled as Nipsey Hussle Square, cementing the late rapper’s legacy in the very neighborhood where he built his vision from the ground up. The sign ceremony marks a milestone moment for Los Angeles and for the community that watched him turn ownership into a blueprint.
The plaza is still family-owned, which adds weight to the tribute. It also serves as the home of the Neighborhood Nip Foundation, the nonprofit created to continue his work in economic empowerment and community development. This is the same space where The Marathon brand grew into a symbol of independence and investment.
Blacc Sam, Nipsey Hussle’s brother and CEO of The Marathon brand, is expected to attend the ceremony. Los Angeles City Council President Marqueece Harris-Dawson will also be present, along with Councilmember Heather Hutt and California State Assemblymember Isaac Bryan.
This rename is not about nostalgia. It is about permanence. For years, Crenshaw and Slauson has stood as a landmark tied to hustle, ownership, and reinvestment. Now the city is making that recognition official.
