Oklahoma City Thunder center Kendrick Perkins was arrested Thursday on a misdemeanor assault charge tied to an alleged incident outside the Nox nightclub in Houston in July, according to court documents and local reports.
The documents say a woman named Miketta told police she was driving in front of the club when she got into a fender bender with a female relative of Perkins’ brother in law, Quincy Alpough. She claims the relative attacked her and that Alpough then joined in, pushing and yelling at her. According to the account in the court documents, Perkins then punched her brother in the head and struck her in the face with a closed fist. A third person also claims Alpough elbowed her in the throat.
Prosecutors reportedly initially dismissed the case before it was refiled. Perkins posted a $1,000 bond. Alpough faces the same charge. Neither man had publicly responded to the allegations in the initial reports, and a charge is not a conviction.
Thunder general manager Sam Presti said in a statement, “We were made aware of the allegations and take this matter seriously.” The team said it was gathering more information.
