,kjaThe Oregon Medical Board revoked a doctor’s license because he refused to follow COVID–19 guidelines in his office, spreading misinformation about masks and over-prescribing opioids to his patients.
In January, Steven Arthur LaTulippe sued the medical board after they suspended his license for placing patients at risk by disregarding COVID-19 mandates and encouraging patients to remove their masks during visits to his office.
The Board also fined him $10,000, claiming he did not properly screen patients and relied on the receptionists to visually gauge whether visitors were sick.
LaTulippe told the medical board that at least 95% of his patients did not use masks at the clinic between March and December 2020.
LaTulippe reportedly made false claims to patients, telling them that masks were ineffective against COVID-19 and could cause carbon dioxide poisoning.
The medical board also found that in multiple cases, LaTulippe prescribed high doses of opioids to patients who the board determined didn’t need it.
