Oschino Vasquez is making headlines after taking to social media to air out some grievances regarding Jay-Z’s recent media moves.
While fans were busy breaking down the gems from Hov exclusive GQ interview earlier this week, Oschino was focused on a completely different angle, loyalty.
Taking to Instagram, the former State Property rapper didn’t hold back, specifically pointing out that Jay-Z sat down with a major corporate publication while his longtime protégé and “homie,” Memphis Bleek, has his own platform. Vasquez shared a screenshot that read: JAY-Z DID A WHOLE INTERVIEW WITH GQ WHEN MEMPHIS BLEEK HAS A WHOLE PODCAST.
He took things a step further in the caption, tagging Bleek directly. @memphisbleek YA POP WONT EVEN SIT DOWN WITH YA CLOWN AZZ AND POP POP NOT DONE WITH YOU YET BOZO COLORADO O IS GONE COOK YA TOAST YOU R AND B DIVA, Oschino wrote.
The critique touches on a long standing debate within the culture regarding “big homie” dynamics and whether A-list artists should prioritize independent platforms owned by their inner circle over mainstream outlets. Memphis Bleek, who has been one of Jay-Z’s most loyal associates since the Roc-A-Fella era, currently hosts the Riding Dirty podcast. Despite their decades long history, a formal, sit-down between the two on Bleek’s show has yet to happen.
While Jay-Z has used his recent interviews to discuss his legacy and the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, Oschino seems determined to keep the focus on the streets and the perceived lack of support for the “home team.”
As you know, Oschino has been vocal for years about his frustration with how the Roc-A-Fella era ended and how Jay-Z handled the careers of the State Property members.
Neither Jay-Z nor Memphis Bleek has officially responded to Oschino’s comments yet, but the post has definitely sparked a conversation about where the GOAT’s priorities should lie.
