Perez Hilton Says His “Stupidity” Landed Him in the Hospital for 21 Days After Taking Flu Medicine Incorrectly [Video]

Perez Hilton is opening up about a frightening health scare that turned into a weeks-long fight for his life, sharing how a simple mistake with medication spiraled into a medical emergency.

In a recent YouTube video, the celebrity blogger revealed that taking flu medication on an empty stomach led to severe complications and a 21-day hospital stay.

“My stupidity landed me in the hospital for 21 days. It was the worst and best thing that’s ever happened to me,” he said, describing the ordeal as a “crazy saga.”

Hilton explained that he had been battling the flu for about a week before things took a serious turn. “I took the medication for the flu for a week. However — a big but — I didn’t take any of my medication with food,” he admitted. That decision led to an ulcer, a perforation, and eventually sepsis. “People die of sepsis,” he said.

His condition worsened rapidly. “The day before I was hospitalized, I was in so much stomach pain,” he recalled. By the next morning, he “couldn’t walk” and was rushed to the hospital by ambulance.

Doctors struggled to locate the internal damage, leading to multiple tests and surgeries. Hilton underwent laparoscopic surgery and additional procedures to treat the ongoing infection.

“They inserted I don’t know what inside of me and drained a ton more infection out of me, and then the sepsis just kept working, and my body kept falling apart,” he said.

During recovery, he relied on a feeding tube and faced ongoing complications, calling the experience both physically and emotionally challenging.
