Peter Gunz is pushing back on viewers who have been coming for him over his Love & Hip Hop: New York storyline, saying on Twitter that some of his scenes on the show were fake.
The rapper, best known for the 1997 hit “Deja Vu (Uptown Baby)” with Lord Tariq, has quickly become one of the most talked about cast members of the VH1 show’s fourth season, which premiered October 28. Viewers watched him juggle his longtime girlfriend Tara Wallace, the mother of two of his young children, and Amina Buddafly, a singer from the group Black Buddafly whom he manages. At the end of the season premiere, Amina revealed that she and Peter are actually married, while Tara had no idea.
The twist sent fans straight to Peter’s Twitter mentions, and he responded by telling them that what they saw on screen was not all real. It is no secret that reality TV situations can be real while the way they play out on camera is shaped for the show, and Peter suggested that is what happened with his scenes.
Thelove triangle is expected to keep playing out as the season continues on Monday nights.
