Pizza Hut App Saves Woman From Deadly Hostage Situation

Just when you thought fast food was the devil… Pizza Hut saved the day!

Earlier this month Cheryl Treadway, a Florida mother, was being held captive by her abusive boyfriend, Ethan Nickerson. The situation escalated when Nickerson took away Treadway’s cell phone and ordered her and her two children not to leave the home. The belligerent man then began threatening his girlfriend with a large knife.

After hours of being held hostage, Treadway convinced her boyfriend to let her order some pizza for the children. Nickerson was very weary and kept a close eye on his girlfriend, ensuring she did not text anyone or make any calls. Using the Pizza Hut App to order a small, hand tossed, pepperoni pizza, Treadway cleverly snuck this message in the comments section of her order: “911 hostage help”.

Fortunately, the family ordered from the restaurant frequently so the staff knew it wasn’t a prank. Pizza Hut manager, Candy Hamilton, then contacted the local sheriff’s office; sending police over to the home to investigate. When Treadway answered the door, her and her two children were escorted by police to safety. After twenty minutes of negotiating, the police were able to calmly remove Nickerson from the home as well.

Nickerson is being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, battery, false imprisonment, and obstructing justice by depriving communication to law enforcement.

Kudos to the Pizza Hut staff… I know where I’m headed on cheat day!
