Aaron Rodgers Has Tear in Calf Muscle -blogged by @CoolWithA_K

SportsCenter reported Thursday that the Green Bay QB won’t be his usual self for his playoff game this weekend against the Cowboys.

According to sources close to SC, the tear is slight but strained after playing through it during Week 17. It shouldn’t keep him out of the game “but there’s also no question he will not be 100 percent,” says an outside doctor. Rodgers’ muscle tear will most likely restrict his movability this Sunday. The Packers have been playing close attention to Rodgers as he just cleared for practice on Thursday. Head coach, Mike McCarthy, said he “looked good,” and that he “practiced in the team periods,” reported Around the NFL Writer, Marc Sessler.

Kevin Patra (Around the NFL), writes of Rodgers’ preparation for blitzes with his offensive line for the Dallas game, stating that he is indeed ready and expecting them. (Blitzes are a form of a rush attack against the QB. The ultimate goal of the defensive line during a blitz is to get the QB to the ground, known as a “sack” and/or disrupt an attempted pass.) Right guard, T.J. Lang says he “wouldn’t be surprised to see more (blitzes) this week knowing that with his calf.”

The two teams will face each other once again in the Playoffs Sunday afternoon, while long-time fans recall the Ice Bowl of ’67. Most of us weren’t even a thought when this occurred, but that loss has remained heavy on the hearts of many Cowboys fans. The Packers, under well-known coach, Vince Lombardi, won by a touchdown in the last 16 seconds, winning 21-17. The game was sold out even with stifling temperatures estimated at -16 degrees, thus the name the “Ice Bowl.” 47 years later, Dallas will travel back to Lambeau Field for their revenge against the Packers on the gridiron. May the better team, surv- …I mean, win.
