Amazon Pharmacy is offering half-yearly prescriptions starting at $6.Â
On Tuesday, Amazon announced it would be offering users the ability to pay $1 a month for select medications, including diabetes and blood pressure medication. On top of that, prime members would receive additional savings when they pay without insurance. They will also get two-day delivery when prescriptions are delivered, Reuters reports.Â
This move comes after Amazon launched its online pharmacy last year in November. The new venture into the pharmaceutical world set up a competition for big-time drug retailers Walgreens and CVS. After Amazon Pharmacy marked its arrival, shares for CVS and Walgreens dropped by 1.2 percent each.Â
The online pharmacy is just the start, as Amazon plans on building physical stores in the United States pretty soon.Â
For those interested in their deal, customers will have to search for their specific medication by name and see if it qualifies for the six-month supply and find out what the price will be using the Prime prescription savings. The six-month supply will only be available to those who have a prescription from a healthcare provider, Reuters reports.Â
