Angie Stone’s children are now taking legal action against several individuals and companies who they believe are responsible for her tragic death.
The Grammy-nominated R&B singer, known for timeless hits like “Wish I Didn’t Miss You,” died in a horrifying crash on an Alabama highway on March 1st, 2025.. The lawsuit claims the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van Stone was riding in flipped after the driver lost control. Though Stone initially survived, the suit says she was trapped when an 18-wheeler, traveling nearly 70 mph, smashed into the van.
“She was still trying to get out,” the lawsuit states.
Her children, Diamond Stone and Michael D’Angelo Archer, along with bandmate Sheila Hopkins, are suing the van driver, trucking company CSRT, truck manufacturer Daimler Truck North America, and others. They claim the truck’s safety system failed and the driver never braked, distracted by music in his headphones.
Stone was returning to Atlanta after performing in Mobile. Before the crash, she had shared her excitement on Instagram, hinting at big things to come. Her death sparked a wave of tributes from her fellow musicians.
Now, her family is demanding accountability and unspecified damages.
