Orlando Brown has always found a way to keep his name in the spotlight, and his former co-star Anneliese van der Pol knows it all too well.
The That’s So Raven star recently joined the cast of the Nickelodeon hit series Ned’s Declassified for their podcast, where she discussed a range of topics, including her relationship with her late mother, life as a child actor, and her experiences working alongside Orlando Brown.
During the episode, Daniel Curtis Lee asked Anneliese whether Brown was truly “crazy” or just “acting.” Anneliese, who played Chelsea Daniels on the Disney Channel show, described Brown as having an “eccentric” personality, making it difficult to tell if he was being serious or just playing around.
“I don’t think so,” she began. “He was always like that, though. You never knew what was real. Sometimes he would lie right to your face.”
Despite Brown’s unpredictable behavior, Anneliese expressed her affection for him, recalling some memorable moments they shared. “I love him to death, and I know he loves me,” she said. “We used to make music together. We had great times, we used to smoke a lot of weed together. But honestly, I don’t want to misspeak because I love Orlando, but I don’t know if a little bit of brain chemistry has changed from drugs. But he was already kind of like that. Always putting on a show in some of the funniest ways.”
She continued, “He is one of the funniest people. He’ll be like, ‘My chains are real,’ or ‘Tell them how much the diamonds were,’ and I’ll be clearly looking at fake jewelry. Like, I don’t care, babe, we make the same salary. I care if this is real weed or fake weed, that’s all I care about. How many seeds are in the blunt? That’s all I care about.”
Anneliese acknowledged Brown’s antics but made it clear that she still cares deeply for her former co-star. “Yes, he’s crazy. Yes, we already know him and are familiar with him being a child actor, but also, he’s pretty f*cking hilarious. He’ll always be funny. If he can save his life—I certainly can’t do it for my own sobriety, and Raven [Symone] can’t do it. And I don’t know if his mother, Tiffany, sometimes parents even have to give up. I don’t know what his rock bottom is. I don’t know. Maybe he needs to be on drugs, needs to be on medication. I don’t know, but I love you, Orlando.”
