Devon Still has had a very overwhelming couple of years. From dealing with his daughter’s cancer diagnosis to being released from the Bengals, it seemed that his wedding to fiancee Asha Joyce had to take a back seat. Finally, on Friday, May 13, Devon and Asha were able to jump the broom with the help of ‘The Knot’ and their Dream Wedding contest.
The Knot, the #1 wedding planning resource, named Devon and Asha as The Knot Dream Wedding couple after hearing of their plans to put off wedding planning while caring for Leah in her battle with stage IV neuroblastoma. Devon vowed to give Asha “the wedding of her dreams” during his 2015 ESPY awards speech, and as soon as the expert team at The Knot heard this, they offered to host the wedding and provide a charity registry on TheKnot.com for the couple to raise money for pediatric cancer research.
For the past eight weeks, fans across the country have participated in a weekly vote for the key elements of The Knot Dream Wedding, from the flowers to the cake, and even the wedding dress. Tonight, America’s top choices came to life in grand form at The New York Public Library.
Asha wore three looks: a sexy mermaid dress with lace appliques and Swarovski crystals by Pnina Tornai, followed by a mermaid champagne gown by Allure with ruffles, and ended the night with a strapless tulle getaway dress by Allison Parris from Rent the Runway. Devon wore a custom designed velvet suit from Martin Greenfield Clothier and Princess Leah wore a pink, sparkly custom-designed flower girl dress from Hayley Paige.
Their wedding cake was an elegant multitier cake adorned with real and sugar flowers crafted by Sylvia Weinstock Instead of a sit-down dinner, the non-traditional reception was a never-ending service of passed & stationed food from Marcia Selden Catering; guests dined on bites with Asian, Hispanic, Southern and New England flavors w/favorites including fried pulled-pork beignets, coconut red curry ramen, and Cuban flan (Devon’s favorite dessert).
