An Atlanta doctor and Houston clinic owner have been sentenced to 10-12 years in prison for their involvement in a pill mill scheme involving the unlawful distribution of controlled substances.

According to court documents, Dr. Jonathan Rosenfield and clinic owner Elmer Taylor ran two pill-mill clinics, issuing illicit prescriptions for opioids like oxycodone and hydrocodone. They used fake patients, diverting drugs to the illegal market and making around $5.5 million from May 2018 to August 2019.

They, along with accomplices, issued illicit prescriptions for opioids, distributing 752,000 oxycodone pills and 419,000 hydrocodone pills using Dr. Rosenfield’s name.

In the same case, Co-defendants Sokari “Momma” Bobmanuel and Alantha Stewart received sentences of 14 years and 10 years in prison.

The case was investigated by the DEA Houston Division and FBI Houston Field Office. Trial Attorneys Monica Cooper, Ariel Glasner, and Courtney Chester of the Criminal Division’s Fraud Section, along with Emily Petro, prosecuted the case.
