A preliminary hearing has revealed new horrific details about the 2019 triple homicide that left a baby and a toddler left home alone for three days.
According to PEOPLE, the triple homicide took place in Spotsylvania, Virginia home on May 29, 2019. The bodies of Michael Coleman, 39, Rachel Ozuna, 34, and her son Kyruss Ozuna, 14.
Their throats were slashed.
Kyruss’s father found the bodies when he went to check on his son. Coleman and Ozuna’s 2-year-old and six-week-old baby were home during the attack but weren’t injured.
Durward Anthony Allen, 27, Jamal Kelvin Bailey, 30, Hugh Cameron Green, 30, James Christopher Myers, 30, and Montel Jaleek Wilson, 26— were charged with first-degree murder nearly a year later, the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office.
During a preliminary hearing on Wednesday for three of the men, Allen, Green, and Wilson, authorities confirmed that investigators believe the three were murdered on May 26, and the two young children were left alone for three days.
Authorities played an emotional 911 call made by Kyruss’s father. It captured the operator asking, “Where is your son?” He replied, “He’s in the bathroom tied up and in a pool of blood.”
Police have listed on motive, saying Coleman was a drug dealer who would have up to $100,000 in his home.
Based on cellphone records, the suspects traveled from Philadelphia to Virginia on May 25. They stayed one night in a motel and then traveled back to Philadelphia the next day after killing the three.
A video was discovered on a cellphone allegedly showing the suspects at a strip club with large stacks of money just days later after the murders.
According to The Free Lance-Star, the hearings for the suspects have been delayed several times, with prosecutors asking that all three suspects have their hearing simultaneously.
