The 2021 BET Awards will pay tribute to the late rapper DMX with epic performances from Busta Rhymes, Method Man, Griselda, and more, all curated by Swizz Beatz.
The performances will honor DMX from his early days with Ruff Ryders to his most recent hits. X, whose real name was Earl Simmons, tragically passed away from a heart attack on April 9, 2021, at the age of 50.
“We look forward to celebrating DMX’s indelible mark in music and pop culture,” said Connie Orlando, Executive Vice President of Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy.
“DMX inspired fans around the world with his signature raspy voice, the delivery of raw emotion through his lyrics and performances, and his giving spirit. We are proud to pay our respects to a hip-hop legend on our biggest stage, the BET Awards,” Orlando added.
The BET Awards 2021 will broadcast live on BET this Sunday, June 27, at 8:00 P.M.
