The BET Hip Hop Awards have released its list of nominees. Da Baby takes the lead with 12 nominations.
The 15th annual Hip Hop Awards is on its way! Last year, DaBaby received the award for “Best New Hip Hop artist” and this time around, the North Carolina rapper has 12 nominations, including Best Live Performer,’ ‘Lyricist of the Year,’ ‘Hip Hop Artist of the Year,’ ‘Impact Track’ – Rockstar (BLM Remix) and two nominations in the ‘Song of the Year,’ ‘Best Hip Hop Video,’ and ‘Best Collab’ categories, BET reports. He will also make history by having two entries in the “Hip Hop Album of the Year” category with “Blame It On Baby” and “Kirk.”
The Houston Hottie, Megan Ther Stallion, opened the show last year and is tied with Drake for having eight nominations each. Roddy Ricch has the second-most nominations with 11 nods. Future has six nominations, and Lil Baby has four nominations. According to the outlet, Beyoncé, DJ Khaled, Travis Scott, and Mustard each have three nominations. As for “Best New Hip Hop Artist,” the nominees include FloMilli, JackHarlow, Mulatto, NLEChoppa, PopSmoke, and RodWave.
The “Lyricist of the Year” noms got a lot of people talking online. The nominees include Big Sean, Da Baby, Drake, J.Cole, Megan Thee Stallion and Rapsody. “Director of the Year” will be a battle between DirectorX, Cole Bennett, Cactus Jack & White Trash Tyler, Colin Tilley, Dave Meyers, and Teyana Taylor. Nominees for this year’s “Hip Hop Artist of the Year” award include DaBaby, Drake, Future, Lil Baby, Megan Thee Stallion, and Roddy Ricch.
DaBaby’s “Bop,” Future and Drake’s “Life is Good,” Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage” remix, Roddy Ricch’s “The Box” and Drake’s “Tootsie Slide” are nominated for “Song of the Year.” For “Hip Hop Album of the Year,” it will be between Da Baby’s “Blame It On Baby,” Da Baby’s “Kirk,” Future’s “High Off Life,” Lil Baby’s “My Turn,” Megan Thee Stallion’s “Suga” and Roddy Ricch’s “Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial.”
The show will take place on Tuesday, Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.
