Beyoncé and JayZ have been super busy this summer with the #OTR II Tour, but not too busy to make sure the money they receive goes back into the community. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Between The BeyGOOD Initiative and The Shawn Carter Foundation, the two will award a $100,000 to “one exceptional senior high school student, with financial needs” to use toward their college education.
To qualify, students will have to “demonstrate academic excellence and show financial needs that would make it hard for them to enter a college or university for the academic year 2018-2019.” According to #Complex, the student must reside in Atlanta, Orlando, Miami, Arlington, New Orleans, Houston, Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Diego, Santa Clara or Seattle, all cities in which the #OnTheRunTour will visit. Each winner will be chosen by The Boys & Girls Club Of America in its respective city.
The couple isn’t new to humanitarianism, as Beyoncé recently announced the Formation Scholarship for female students and Jay, through The Shawn Carter Foundation, has consistently helped tons of students afford college as well as taking students on tours of some of the nation’s HBCUs.
