Republicans and Conservatives Bothered by Big Bird’s COVID-19 Vaccine Announcement

Republicans and conservatives are reportedly bothered by Sesame Street‘s Big Bird announcing that he got vaccinated for COVID-19.

As the country continues to be torn between the anti-vax crew and the pro-vax crew, Republicans and conservatives are calling out the program and PBS for its alleged “brainwashing.”

“I got the COVID-19 vaccine today! My wing is feeling a little sore, but it’ll give my body an extra protective boost that keeps me and others healthy. Ms. @ EricaRHill even said I’ve been getting vaccines since I was a little bird. I had no idea!” read a tweet from Big Bird’s Twitter page. The ageless character is said to be six years old, which is between the 5 to 11 age group that is now eligible to receive a Coronavirus vaccine.

After the announcement, several people commented on the post, thanking “Sesame Street” for talking about the vaccine. However, some people weren’t happy with the show discussing COVID-19 vaccines, calling it “propaganda,” NBC News reports.

“Government propaganda…for your 5 year old!” tweeted Ted Cruz. Fox News’ Lisa Boothe posted a tweet, saying, “Brainwashing children who are not at risk from COVID. Twisted.” Another Republican politician named Robbie Starbuck made joke about Big Bird dying from the shot. He wrote,”*7 days later* Big blood clot Bird is served!”

This isn’t the first time “Sesame Street” has raised awareness about COVID-19 safety and vaccines. They’ve been discussing the pandemic since it started. The program is also well-known for its programming providing information on real-life issues that are going on in society.
