Lil Wayne took to Twitter earlier this month to address his frustration with his label, Cash Money records and co-founder Birdman for not releasing his highly anticipated album, Tha Cater V as planned for this year. Lil Wayne made a follow up tweet a few days ago (12/11/14) to let his fans know that as of now, he is only repping his own brand, Young Money.
According to TMZ, sources close to Birdman say that he is “deeply offended by Weezy’s public rants,” and he won’t let Lil Wayne leave Cash Money because he is still under contract. Birdman said he is willing to take matters to court if necessary.
TMZ also reported that Birdman has intentions to release Tha Carter V but on his own time. Birdman said there is still a lot of administrative work that needs to be done before the project is available to the public.
Let’s hope this issue is resolved soon and the YMCMB empire can continue to thrive!
