In a rare interview, Nipsey Hussle’s brother, Blacc Sam, opened up about the tragic final moments of the rapper’s life. Speaking with Big Boy on the “Off Air Series” on Friday (August 9), Sam Asghedom, known as Blacc Sam, shared what he learned about the minutes leading up to Nipsey’s murder and offered his thoughts on what might have been going through Eric Holder’s mind when he pulled the trigger.
Sam described the usual protocol when Nipsey visited the shop, explaining how he and his team would always be on alert. “When Hussle pulled up, we’d be in the doorway, hoodies on, and armed. That was protocol. But on that Sunday, it was busy, and things didn’t go as planned,” Sam explained. “I wasn’t there, but maybe the guys were distracted, helping customers, trying to transition to just selling clothes. But no one was in the doorway.”
Blacc Sam expressed his belief that the murder was premeditated, though he’s not certain if Holder was the mastermind. “From what I’ve heard, a guy first walked up with no shirt on to check the scene, saw no one was in the doorway, and then left. He came back with a red shirt, tiptoed through the alley, and started shooting,” Sam recounted. “To me, that’s premeditated. You don’t see red shirts in the hood. It’s a throw-off, maybe to make it look like the Bloods did it. I think he was supposed to do a job, but he was nervous.”
Despite the tragic loss, Nipsey Hussle’s legacy continues to resonate throughout the rap community. In a June interview on “Big Boy’s Neighborhood,” producer Mustard revealed that he has Nipsey to thank for the title “Faith Of A Mustard Seed,” a suggestion Nipsey made when they were working on the title track for Mustard’s last album, Perfect Ten.
Although Mustard had already locked in the album title at the time, Nipsey’s suggestion stuck with him. “He said, ‘Before it’s all said and done, you gotta do *Faith Of A Mustard Seed,*’” Mustard recalled. When he began working on a new project, Nipsey’s idea made perfect sense, especially after sampling a Luther Vandross track, which his mother, a huge Vandross fan, loved.
