Another black male has been found dead by hanging.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office reports that a black teenager’s body was found hanging in the parking lot of Ehrhardt Elementary School in Spring, Texas.
“Based on security video, witnesses and other evidence, preliminary indications are the male hanged himself,” the sheriff’s office said on Twitter. “There are currently no signs of foul play,” it added.
However, an autopsy will confirm the official cause of death.
According to Newsweek, on Monday, Houston, Texas police discovered a Hispanic man hanging from a tree in an “apparent suicide” in the neighborhood of Shady Acres.
On Tuesday, the Houston police tweeted that “foul play is not suspected. Investigators are awaiting an autopsy by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.”
This comes after the hangings of two African American men in California, Robert Fuller of Palmdale, CA., and Malcolm Harsch in Victorville, CA. Both cases are now under investigation by the FBI after the local authorities said they found no evidence of foul play, and all indications pointed to suicide. Many have concerns that the two may have been lynched and that the announcement of suicide was too “rushed” to claim; this prompted sheriffs to pledge to do a more thorough investigation.
“The FBI, U.S. Attorney’s office for the Central District of California and the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division are actively reviewing the investigations into the hanging deaths of two African American men in the cities of Palmdale and Victorville to determine whether there are violations of federal law,” the bureau said.
The family of Harsch, 38, who was found hanging from a tree near the Victorville City Library, says that his death is suspicious and that the authorities were taking a long time piecing it together.
“The explanation of suicide does not seem plausible,” they added, according to USA Today. “We want justice, not comfortable excuses.”
The hangings of three black men and one Hispanic comes as racial tension is at a peak. People would like answers as to why they are now “commonly” happening.
