Brian McKnight Responds To Claims He’s A Deadbeat Father [Video]

Thursday night, Brian McKnight took the time to address what he says is a “false narrative.” He denounced claims that he’s a deadbeat father who favors his mixed children and stepchildren over his black children.

The R&B singer caught some heat on social media for not acknowledging his own children. Many felt McKnight favored his mixed stepchildren on Instagram and questioned why, and more so after he named his infant son Brian McKnight, Jr., although his oldest son has the name.

“Wait… your oldest is named Brian McKnight Jr, then you turn around and name this one Brian McKnight?… the audacity,” one follower wrote on Instagram.

“I make absolutely no apologies for naming my infant son Brian,” he said in a video shared on YouTube. “I want him and the world to know that he is the one that is my true legacy.”

To kind of clear the air, McKnight re-posted pictures to prove he spends quality time with his Black children.

“Not sure how these posts that have been sitting here this whole time were left out of the false narrative that is trending,” he wrote in the post caption.

“Abandonment? There’s always more to every story. Stay tuned,” he ended.

McKnight’s daughter, Briana, sued him for defamation after he made claims she had an affair with her older cousin when she was a minor, Rolling Out reported.

“There’s a very simple reason why I post about some of my children on social media and not others,” McKnight previously said in a YouTube video. “The children I currently do not have relationships with, I don’t post about them. Instead, I post about the children whom I do have relationships with and whom I’m proud of. ”
