The cost of butter is going to see a new, bumped-up price as shortages impact groceries across the nation.
As we’re all gearing up for the holidays, families around the country are already stocking up on much-needed items for family gatherings. However, you might want to get to the store fast as products like butter are high in demand and low in stock.
According to Fox News New York, there’s been a decline in milk production at U.S. dairy farms and staff shortages at processing plants over the last few months. Butter prices have now reached $4.77 per unit as of Aug. 27.
Senior vice president at Associated Milk Producers Inc., Marshall Reece said the company’s butter production has been down by 5 percent and 10 percent this year in comparison to the years before the pandemic.
“Don’t go crazy. You can’t have a fire sale on butter, we won’t be able to supply you,” Reece said of grocers, reports Fox News New York, per the Wall Street Journal.
