Sports Illustrated is prepared to boldly go where no sports magazine has gone before. A source revealed to Us Weekly that Caitlyn Jenner is set to grace the summer cover of Sports Illustrated wearing “nothing but an American flag and her Olympic medal.”
As you may know, Caitlyn (as Bruce), is an Olympic gold medalist, setting a world decathlon record at the 1976 Montreal Summer Games. To celebrate this achievement, Caitlyn is letting it all hang out on her win’s 40th anniversary. “She’s excited about that,” the source adds.
This will be the first time Caitlyn will pose with the medals post transition. In fact, she keeps the medals tucked away, as not to intimidate her children.
“I never wanted my kids to feel like they had to have a gold medal in order to be considered a success,” the father of six wrote in an August 2015 blog post. “I didn’t want them to constantly compare their own achievements to my time in the Olympics, so I haven’t displayed my medal.”
Sports Illustrated has not released a statement on the cover and there’s no word as to whether the photoshoot has taken place.
