Harlem’s finest Cam’Ron appeared on J1’s Instagram live on Monday and spoke about creating a follow up to the cult classic film, Paid In Full.
” These are conversations that we talked about in the last few months. Actually, a couple of hours ago, something we talked about [was] pertaining [to] Paid in Full 2,” Cam said.
” I don’t wanna say 100 percent, yes, but we’re definitely in the talks about doing something similar to Paid in Full 1,” he continued. “It’s definitely a conversation going on right now about that, 100 percent. This is the first time I’m giving you a possibility of ‘Yes.'”
Over the years, Cam has spoken on the potential of a sequel to Paid in Full, but this is the first time fans have gotten an official answer to the possibility of a second film.
Cam says a close friend is now in charge of Dimension Films, which is why the conversation on a potential sequel has officially begun.
Paid in Full, starring Mekhi Phifer, Wood Harris, and Cam’Ron is based on a true story of Harlem legends AZ, Alpo, and Rich Porter and the late 80’s Harlem drug trade. Cam’Ron portrayed Rico (Alpo) in the film.
The film grossed over $3-million in the box office in 2002. Gaining widespread popularity, Paid in Full became an instant classic.
Cam told J1 he feels like the wheels are actually beginning to move.
” I been asked this question several times, and I had to tell people, ‘No. Not that I know of,'” Cam continued. “This is the first time I’m giving you a possibility of a Yes.”
