Conservative analyst Candance Owens recently got a taste of her own medicine at a private COVID-19 testing site after being refused a test because she’s spread misinformation on the virus.
Owens, an author, requested a COVID-19 test but received a letter from the facility declining her request.
The letter Owens posted on social media details the company’s explanation of denying her service. The company cited her misinformation and skepticism of public health measures on social media as their reason for not testing her.
“We cannot support anyone who has pro-actively worked to make this pandemic worse by spreading misinformation, politicizing, and DISCOURAGING the wearing of masks and actively dissuading people from receiving life-saving vaccinations,” Aspen Laboratories co-founder Suzanna Lee wrote.
“My team and myself have worked overtime, to exhaustion, unpaid and underpaid this past year, spending our own capital to ensure that our community remains protected. It would be unfair to them and to the sacrifices we have all made this year to serve you.”
Lee then told Owens another place that she could get tested.
Owens, unhappy with the company’s response, shared her response to the co-founder on social media. She called Lee’s letter “hysterical” and then called Lee a “rabid activist.”
Owens has made several controversial statements in regards to the virus, saying “the virus was never fatal” and that the “coronavirus is the greatest rigging of an American election that has ever taken place.”
Just finished my live on Instagram here: https://t.co/lPjhqVYaGO
As promised— here is the email from the rabid activist declining to give me a test, plus my response to her. She clearly isn’t stable enough to work in health and is a danger to the Aspen community. pic.twitter.com/nV7xMGqVN3
