Little league baseball is proving to be very inspirational this year. First Mo’Ne Davis and now Chicago’s ver own, Jackie Robinson West little league team won the U.S. Finals and and head to face-off with S. Korea.
The all-black team of 11 and 12 year olds beat out the Las Vegas Mountain Ridge in the US final on Saturday. The team almost lost hope during a 2 home run play in the fifth that cost Jackie Robinson West the lead. “After that home run, I got scared. Very scared,” said the team’s pitcher, Joshua Houston. The worry didn’t last two long, they recovered and defeated Las Vegas 7 – 5.
Unfortunately South Korea defeated the Southside Chicago team 8-4 on Sunday, but the little guys over at Jackie Robinson West still got love from President Obama, so that’s pretty cool.
