A young Eastern Michigan football star’s life was tragically cut short on Friday. 20 year old Demarius Reed, a Junior with his entire life ahead of him, was found by his roommate shot to death in the hallway of his apartment building. Police say Reed was involved in apparent robbery but have no suspects in custody.

It is being reported that there was a large group of non-residents attending a pre-party at Reed’s complex the night before he died. Residents at Reed’s complex do not recall hearing gun shots.

Reed was a communication, media and theater arts major originally hailing from Chicago where he attended high school at Simeon Academy. Reed started all six games for Eastern Michigan this season as a wide receiver, with 15 catches for 185 yards and a touchdown, according to the school. He was focused on making it to the NFL, his father said. It’s a tragedy his dreams had to end so soon.
