During an interview with Fox Soul’s Hollywood Unlocked Uncensored, Common opened up about his breakup with Tiffany Haddish.
This is the first time Common addressed the breakup with the comedian, saying their packed schedules and dedication to work ultimately led to the demise of their romantic relationship. He explained, they “didn’t want to be one foot in, one foot out.”
While smiling through the explanation, Common described Haddish as one of the best people he’s met in life. “She’s one of the best-hearted and most authentic and caring people that I have met in life. And that’s what made me love her and be in love with her and want to be in a relationship with her and grow with her,” he said.
Common shared that he and Haddish had a very healthy and loving relationship. “It was probably the most mature relationship I’ve been in,” the rapper continued. “The communication, the respect, just all around, man.”
After COVID-19 restrictions eased up, the pair’s relationship started to struggle once they both had to go back to their regular schedules. Common said it prevented them from putting “as much energy or time” into their relationship.
He noted that the split was a mutual decision between him and Haddish. “I feel like both of us cherish and value our relationship, and both have come out better human beings,” said Common.
