If pork jerky is your go-to snack, it might be time to double-check the pantry. LSI Inc. has issued a massive recall of its Golden Island Fire-Grilled Korean Barbecue Pork Jerky after reports surfaced of sharp metal wires found inside the product.
The USDA confirmed that approximately 2,277,540 pounds of jerky sold nationwide at Costco and Sam’s Club are impacted. Customers reportedly discovered the wire pieces, which were later traced back to the company’s conveyor belt.
The affected jerky came in 14.5-ounce and 16-ounce bags with “best by” dates ranging from October 23, 2025, to September 23, 2026. Consumers should look for the establishment number “M279A” inside the USDA inspection mark.
Thankfully, no injuries have been reported, but the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service is urging consumers not to eat the jerky. Instead, toss it out or return it to the store for a refund.
Because the shelf life lasts a full year, food safety officials are concerned the contaminated jerky could still be sitting in pantries. Be safe and check your stash.
