Ford is recalling close to 300,000 of its popular Super Duty trucks after discovering that a camera malfunction could cause the rearview display to show distorted or unclear images in certain lighting.
The automaker says the glitch impacts the 360-degree camera system, which helps drivers see behind their vehicles. If the display fails to show an accurate image, it could reduce visibility and increase the chance of a crash.
The recall includes 2020 through 2022 models of the F-250, F-350, and F-450 Super Duty trucks. Ford’s official recall identification number for this issue is 25SA8.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) confirmed that owners will begin receiving letters notifying them of the recall starting Monday. A second notice with details on the permanent fix will be mailed once the final repair is ready, which Ford expects to have available by March. Dealerships will update the image processing software at no cost to owners once the solution is finalized.
This is just the latest Ford recall in recent months. Back in August, the company pulled 500,000 SUVs off the road over brake fluid problems.
Drivers can check if their vehicles are affected by visiting the NHTSA website or contacting Ford’s customer service line.
